With 15 years of experience in the health care industry, Frank Charles brings a highly motivated, vibrant sales approach to the PBD Sales team. Before joining PBD, Frank served as a Physician Engagement Specialist and Sales Manager for Large Group Account Management at Independent Health (PBD’s parent company) for the past ten years.

Frank has extensive expertise in negotiations, formal presentations, mentoring and oversight of sales reporting. With superb leadership, communication and problem-resolution skills, Frank is focused on finding solutions for clients by applying his innate “stick-to-itiveness” which has helped him build strong business relationships.

Prior to working in health care, Frank played professional baseball for 14 seasons with six different Major League Baseball organizations, highlighted by playing in the big leagues with the Houston Astros in 2000.

EXPERIENCE

As PBD’s Regional Sales Manager, Frank analyzes potential client issues and needs and provides a solution to meet or exceed their expectations. He fosters solid professional relationships between PBD and the broker community, develops new sales strategies, and oversees the RFP process to ensure that all requested information is completely and accurately provided.

Frank has worked with hospital, physician practices, broker partners and large employer groups to deliver cost-effective health benefit plan designs for both commercial and self-funded clients. At Independent Health, he educated primary care and hospital-based physician practices on how to maximize quality metrics as well as revenue while transitioning from fee-for-service into a monthly global payment model for patient services.

He also led the Independent Health Physician Engagement team promoting the innovative Brook Health Companion App to assist patients with self-management of diabetes and hypertension.

COMMUNITY WORK

Frank currently serves as an Ambassador for the Live Like Luca/The Luca S. Calanni Foundation to help all children experience the joys of participating in sports, camps, the arts and other activities.

For the past five years, Frank has coached in the Clarence Travel Baseball Organization in WNY and coached underprivileged youth at camps/clinics through his affiliation with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA).

Frank also served on the Board of Directors for Buffalo Hearing and Speech from 2014-2016, helping enrich the lives of children with Autism and hearing disabilities.

Fun Fact:
Frank played the lead role of Tony in “Westside Story” in 8th grade at Madison Junior High in Van Nuys, Calif.
